Polypropylene PP

Fused Deposition Modeling [FDM]

Polypropylene PP

is a professional-grade thermoplastic widely recognized for its exceptional balance of durability, flexibility, and chemical resistance. In our on-demand 3D printing service, PP is frequently chosen for its low density,

which results in lightweight parts without sacrificing mechanical strength.

Its inherent moisture and fatigue resistance

make it ideal for applications that demand repeated use, bending, or exposure to harsh environments. Whether you're developing watertight enclosures, snap-fit components, or chemically resistant housings,

PP delivers the performance needed for both prototyping and full-scale production.

It is ideal for producing a wide range

of functional parts, including durable lockable containers, flexible living hinges, chemically resistant laboratory components,

robust industrial-grade parts that require both strength and flexibility.

Material Properties

Young’s modulus (X-Y)

~1,500–1,800 MPa

Tensile strength (X-Y)

~25–35 MPa

Elongation at break (X-Y)

~200–600%

Impact strength

~30–40 MPa

Walls

Supported Wall Thickness Min
0.2 mm
Unsupported Wall Thickness Min
0.2 mm

A supported wall is connected at least on two sides of the wall, while an unsupported wall is connected only on one side of the wall.

Walls that do not meet the minimum requirements may not survive printing and cleaning processes. Additionally, models may still be rejected based on the wall geometry of the model.

Please consider the size of your model and reinforce the walls or add support structures as needed as minimum guidelines will not always be adequate for large models.

Design Guidelines

Bounding Box
Bounding Box Max
300 x 300 x 300 mm
Bounding Box Min
7x7x2 (mm)

The bounding box is a 3D imaginary outline of a box that encloses the smallest area occupied by your model.

Your model must be within the minimum and maximum bounding box sizes. If the size of the model is close to the maximum bounding box, then the printing orientation will be restricted.

Accuracy

Accuracy +/-0.25 mm + 0.1%

For example: a product with dimensions of 50x50x100 mm can be 0.15 mm + 0.0015*100 mm = 0.3 mm bigger or smaller in any direction.

Polypropylene PP

Strengths - High chemical resistance, Excellent fatigue durability, Low density, Moisture resistance, Impact resistance

Weaknesses - Minimal visible print layer lines for a polished finish.
